RESEARCH BOARD: LITTLE BLACK DRESS

I have created a research board for my LBD project i selected images in which i found interesting that related to the 60's. This includes images of famous 60's model Twiggy, The mini skirt, famous musicians such as the Beatles. Playboy magazine front covers and much more. This has helped me define very popular moments of the 60's decade.

Manchester

Here a few images from my camera on my trip to Manchester way back in Septemeber. A few primary Images for my 1960's Little Black Dress project, theese photographs were taken at the Fashion costume gallery which included designs from YSL, Vivienne Westwood and many more!

Textile piece which includes: marbles wrapped in tights with candle wax dropped on to the tights with white paint. I found this art work very interesting as I could imagine something similar attached to a garment. I think it's an effective piece of work with materials that you can find in your house hold.

24/11/2011 Fashion Show.

We did a last minute fashion show today for special guests at the college, including the mayor of Birmingham. Found it very fun, choosing the wardrobe of clothing, preparing the clothing and fitting and dressing the models. Was only a small show but very hectic when changing the models!

LES TWINS.

Ever since I've seen the advert for Les Twins I am obsessed with watching them on youtube. Think I'm slightly in love with them not just because of there hair, dress sense and there french accent. I do actually love there dancing and how they can dance to any type of music. Above are 2 of my favorite videos. Make sure you watch there documentary on BET when it's out!

Purple Drankz

Breakfast At Tiffany's

For part of my 1960's research I have decided to study one of the most famous icons to ever live, Audrey Hepburn. Her famous dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's has been part of my inspiration for my little black dress. The dress was designed by Hubert Givenchy. The dress is floor length, made from Italian silk and fitted to fit the silhouette of Hepburn. I have made designs inspired by Givenchy which include tight fitted dresses to highlight the women figure. Both floor length and knee length.

SLR Film

 Love the colours of the woods are really pretty.

I like the depth of field on this photograph as well as the head scarf which makes the image look old fashioned.

Getting my Olmpus SLR film camera fixed next week and I'm going to start taking loads of pictures again. Can't wait so i thought i'd post a few film pictures which i liked. These photographs are taking by "pt campbell" off Flickr (Link Above). I'm going to research more into film photographers particularly from the 1960's as i would like to take some pictures for my sketchbook, my little black dress project.
